Quick Peek: Member Profile: Bill Seidl, host 2013 CPS Fly-In. KMMV

Member Bill Seidl stepped up and volunteered knowing he had a gifted group of fellow pilots from the North-West that would give him some assistance.  An event of this size almost requires a host have help.   Bill is an entrepreneur and uses his TR-182 to keep an eye on his interests and to carry his family away on those special trips that can only happen when you own an aircraft.  Here ‘in his own words’ a message from Bill on why CPS is part of his flying life.

“I’ve been a member at CPS since the early days, I think my member number is 237. What attracted me to CPS is the same thing that has kept me as an active member for the past seven years. This is a collective of volunteers that truly want to be part of an effort that makes everyone’s flying more fun and safe. I’ve seen acts of kindness extended between total strangers that would serve as excellent examples for any family. The group is a true cross section of the kind folks that make up what is really ‘right’ with aviation.

Having attended prior CPS National Fly-In events, it occurred to me that an event in the beautiful Pacific Northwest would be an ideal setting. The idea intrigued me, but the thought of hosting an event of that scale caused me some brief hesitation. Then I got to thinking about how much effort prior organizers of previous events had obviously and graciously put forward. When I weighed that effort against the smiles of appreciation that were just ever-present on the part of the attendees, it was instantly obvious that I wanted to host an event. I thought that doing something special for this group would be personally rewarding, as well as a way to return some of the friendship I had been privileged to discover over the years. The decision to offer KMMV as a host airport was really made the moment I thought about those friendships. We’ll be gathering in Oregon on June 27 through the 30th. I know it will all be worthwhile.

‘Cleared As Filed’ is the newsletter of the Cessna Pilots Society. CPS is an all-volunteer group of aviation enthusiasts who maintain a forum for the unofficial exchange of ideas relating to technical, operational, and functional issues relating specifically to Cessna aircraft. We provide a venue whereby the members may also choose to discuss destinations, and other subjects that touch on the aviation lifestyle. No political discussions are permitted. The daily workings of CPS are overseen by a Board of Directors that also moderate the forum if needed. We also welcome members that fly other brands who wish to participate for the friendship, and unique access to a diverse set of good minds. Dedicated owners, operators, AMT’s and all aviation enthusiasts are welcome at CPS

The Cessna Pilots Society is not affiliated or endorsed by Cessna/Textron Corporation or its subsidiaries. All Cessna model designations and models are the property/trademark of Cessna/Textron.
