CPS Newsletter :
November 2019 Issue
We put this Newsletter to post just following Thanksgiving. Aviators are 'in touch' in a manner of speaking more-so than their ground bound brothers and sisters. We see the world as few others can. Let us remember to truly give thanks for all those that helped get us to the point where we can indulge in these 'higher pursuits'. Parents, teachers, mentors, friends and family each played a role, and we always recognize the men and women in the Service of our country that keep watch over us all.
With the cold weather already starting to grip the USA (it gets a head start on our Canadian Members), many will be flying a bit less, some intentionally schedule their annuals for this time of year as well. We all try to stay current, and the performance we enjoy from the cold dense winter air is downright stellar! Remember to share your flights and your annual inspection notes with the rest of CPS. We all learn from your experience, and those stuck in the cold get taken aloft when you share your flights.
Espen is Safe after Mid Atlantic Engine out on a 337 Twin
The life of a Ferry Pilot is full of adventure, and risk is a factor. Espen had a mid-Atlantic engine failure that turned out well. Congratulations on a terrific save! Link to the story... Check out the picture below to make you sweat in your office chair.
If you fly a retractable high wing, the occasion to see your airplane suspended in mid-air happens in places other than the gear-check mirror while in flight. Doubtlessly the owner's pulse is elevated at least as high as this beautiful 210! Photo compliments of Dave Finamore. A wandering conversation on the process lies somewhere in This Thread

Op Ed:
This month's Forums had more than a few questions on FAA Medicals peppering the pages. While we have a long way to go before the FAA finally realizes they've been grounding healthy aviators for years w/ arcane rules, those rules have 'moved' a little in recent times. We are also seeing hearty and driven aviators working with their MDs to ensure FROM THE BEGINNING of their treatments that they'll be in a good position to retain or regain their medical once their health issues are under control.
It cannot be overemphasized that the need to ensure proper tests, documentation, and submissions are accomplished in a timely manner is to get those ducks in a row at the onset.
As a consequence of a combination of drive, perserverance, and doggedness (described by non-aviation spouses as pig-headedness), we've seen many of our own CPS family regain their flight privileges where those would have been forfeited just a few years back.
If you are facing some issues, get with AOPA, or Bruce Chien, or some truly qualified professional that understands that retaining your Medical and Flight Privileges is #2 on your list right after living through the proposed procedure. Put out a post or ask some of the successful aviators that have walked this path for their method (and a sprig of inspiration). Their success stories are our future hope, and they've already illuminated the taxi-way!
FIGHT hard. It's worth it.

What You Are: We are ALWAYS grateful for your contributions to our Forums. The trust and willingness to share, and on occasion to be an example for how to do it well (or otherwise) is only possible in an atmosphere of mutual respect. High Compliments to all for the level of discourse you maintain so well.
Fly Safely.
